Steak Dinner To Benefit The Arc Watkins Glen, NY - On February 27, 2010, the Montour Moose Lodge #426 will be offering a steak dinner to benefit The Arc of Schuyler. This event has been a partnership between the local Moose Lodge and The Arc for 20+ years and both organizations benefit from this ongoing relationship. In addition, and most importantly, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families benefit since all of the money raised is used for local programs and supports. Volunteers from the Moose Lodge, The Arc, Interact and other community organizations work side by side to make sure all of the dinner guests have an enjoyable meal and experience. It takes cooks, dishwashers, wait staff, greeters and others to make the evening successful. The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. on February 27th at the Moose Lodge on Route 14 in Montour Falls and dinners will be served until all of the steaks have been consumed, usually by 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and include a steak, salad, baked potato, veggie and dessert. Children ages 5-12 are eligible for a $6 ticket which includes 1/2 steak, salad, potato, veggie and dessert. Children under age 5 can get a hamburger or hot dog, fries and dessert for a free will donation. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Montour Moose Lodge, from Board members or staff of The Arc or at The Arc's office at 203 Twelfth Street in Watkins Glen or by calling 607 535 6934. The Arc provides support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout Schuyler County. For mor information on supports or services visit The Arc's website at www.arcofschuyler.org

Homeownership Resources for New Yorkers with Disabilities There are a number of powerful home ownership incentives available to individuals and families with developmental disabilities. The first step in accessing these programs is to establish Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) eligibility. The OMRDD application process includes completing the OMRDD Transmittal Form and attachments for submission to the Developmental Disabilities Services Offices (DDSO) intake coordinator in the county where the consumer/prospective home owner resides. For a listing of county-based DDSOs and Intake Coordinators and Transmittal Forms see: www.omr.state.ny.us/wt/forms/ Other home ownership options listed here are available through the Office of Mental Health (OMH), New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and the State of New York Mortgage Agency (SONYMA). |
For both health and safety reasons, The Arc of Schuyler operates smoke-free facilities.
