New York State Launches Autism Website

Site should be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families now have a single comprehensive resource to go to for important information on Autism Spectrum Disorders and the services available to address the needs of these individuals and their families in New York State. The New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) and the State Education Department (SED) recently announced the launch of the New York ACTS (www.nyacts.org) Web site.

The site recognizes the amazing increase in children and adults impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders and attempts to provide individuals, families and professionals with the most up to date information on issues and services. Sections of the Website deal with frequently asked questions, detection, intervention and support services. The site also provides information on news and announcements, events and training and laws that people need to be aware of in supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Arc of Schuyler Awards Scholarships

WATKINS GLEN – The Arc of Schuyler awarded its Joanne S. Hayes Memorial Scholarship to three graduates in Schuyler County at commencement ceremonies this past weekend. Justine Chapman-Heichel, Mathew Mangus and Katlyn Smith each received a $1,000 scholarship.
