Recreation Events
The following is a list of recreational activities for June 2008. If you are interested in participating in any of the following events, please contact home services at (607) 535-6934 to sign up. Please call at least one week in advance if you wish to participate, or complete the enclosed sign-up form and return it to the home services office. We can provide limited transportation for individuals, so please indicate whether or not transportation is needed. It is important for everyone to know that, unlike respite programs, one of the goals of the family support program is to have whole families involved. Lack of response may result in activity cancellation.
Fireman’s Carnival
Where: Carnival Grounds, Montour Falls, NY
When: Thursday, June 5, 2008
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Cost: $25.00
It’s time to start the count-down to summer. Let’s kick off the summer season with a night at the Montour Falls fireman’s carnival. Join Liz for a night of fun and games. Enjoy the carnival foods and exciting rides of this small town fair. Dress for the weather. Liz will begin pick up at 5 pm. Suggested cost $25.00.
Black Rock Speedway
Where: Black Rock Speedway, Dundee, NY
When: Friday, June 6, 2008
Time: 6:00pm - 11:00pm
Cost: $20.00
The Monster Trucks are rolling into Dundee and we are going to be there to greet them. Join Mary for a night to enjoy street stocks, the trucks, modifieds, and much more. Please remember to eat before pick up, wear a hat, jacket, and bring sun glasses to keep the mud out of your eyes! Plan to dress for the weather it may get chilly. Pick up begins at 6:00pm. Cost is $20.00.
Crafts with Liz
Where: 210 Twelfth Street, The Arc of Schuyler, Watkins Glen, NY
When: Wednesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 12, 2008

Cost: $5.00
Father’s Day is just around the corner and Liz wants to help you create the perfect gift. Come and make a creative item for a gift or for yourself or a friend. Transportation home can be provided. Cost is $5.00.
Bowling
Where: Paramount Lanes, Elmira, NY
When: Friday, June 13, 2008
Time: 6:00pm-10:00pm
Cost: $20.00
Let’s roll in the summer with Mary and Sharon for one last night of bowling at Paramount Lanes in Elmira. Tonight’s theme is the battle of the sexes, the guys against the gals. Two teams, two lanes, too much fun! $20.00 will cover bowling, bring extra cash if you want dinner or snacks at the bowling alley. Pick up will begin at 6:00 pm. Remember - seating is limited so reserve your spot early.
Waterfront Festival
Where: Seneca Harbor Park, Watkins Glen, NY
When: Saturday, June 14, 2008
Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Cost: $15.00
Join Sharon for an afternoon on the waterfront. Cheer on our entry - The Arc Shark - in this year’s cardboard boat race, enjoy the events. Dress for the weather and remember your sun glasses and sun screen. Suggested cost $15.00, for snacks and purchases.
Movie Club
Where: 210 Twelfth Street, The Arc of Schuyler, Watkins Glen, NY
When: Monday, June 16, 2008
Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Cost: $5.00
Bring a snack to share, a friend to introduce to the group, and a movie you’d like to see, and settle in for an afternoon of relaxation. Good food, good friends, good movie. Dinner will be provided and transportation home can be arranged. Meet Mary at 210 Twelfth Street at 3:00pm. We will review the rules of club conduct upon arrival tonight, and discuss how to best follow them. Cost is $5.00.
Buffalo Zoo Trip
Where: Buffalo Zoo, Buffalo, NY

Travel with Mary and Sharon aboard The Arc van to the historic Buffalo Zoo. One of the oldest zoos in the country, we can see gorillas, giraffes, elephants, monkeys, lions, and tigers, and bears, Oh my! And much more! Wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes, bring sun screen and a light jacket - it may be a little chilly so close to Lake Erie. Bring lunch, or money to purchase lunch at the zoo. Cost of zoo admission is $10.00 plus money for your lunch/purchases.
Annual Arc Summer Picnic

Mark your calendars for the annual summer picnic. Celebrate the end of school with fun, frolic, and picnic food. Bring the family and an empty tummy. The Arc provides the rest. Transportation can be provided but reserve your seat! No cost for this event.
