Recreation Events
The following is a list of recreational activities for March 2008. If you are interested in participating in any of the following events, please contact home services at (607) 535-6934 to sign up. Please call at least one week in advance if you wish to participate, or complete the enclosed sign-up form and return it to the home services office. We can provide limited transportation for individuals, so please indicate whether or not transportation is needed. It is important for everyone to know that, unlike respite programs, one of the goals of the family support program is to have whole families involved. Lack of response may result in activity cancellation.
Piano Concert
Where: Johnson Art Museum, Ithaca, NY
When: Saturday, March 1, 2008
Time: 12:00pm-6:00pm
Cost: Free
Music lovers take a break from the ordinary and join Mary for a free piano concert at the Johnson Art Museum. Take an afternoon to dress up a little and relax with friends while you listen to the delicate sounds of classical piano at its best. If time allows we may also take a short tour of the museum to view works or art from around the world. Pick up will begin at noon. You will be home by 6:00 pm for dinner.
Singing with Liz
Where: The Arc of Schuyler, Watkins Glen, NY
When: Wednesday, March 5, 2008
Time: 3:00pm-5:00pm
Cost: Free
This popular event is back for another month. Liz will be waiting for you at The Arc at 2:45 pm to end the day in song. There will be no pick up for this event but a ride home can be arranged. Share a favorite song and enjoy spending a couple of hours with friends.
Bowling
Where: Paramount Lanes, Elmira, NY
When: Friday, March 7, 2008
Time: 6:00pm-10:00pm
Cost: $10.00
It’s Friday night and time to let the good times roll. Join Mary and Sharon for bowling at Paramount Lanes in Elmira. Be sure to sign up early as this is always a popular event. Dinner is not planned but snacks can be purchased at the bowling alley. Pick up will begin at 6:00 pm
Recreation Events for Children
Traveling Zoo
Where: Fairgrounds, Syracuse, NY
When: Saturday, March 8, 2008
Time: 9:00pm-5:00pm
Cost: $10.00
Animal lovers take heart. A zoo trip is at hand. We are traveling to Syracuse to the fair grounds to participate in a traveling zoo. This is a hands-on event and promises to be a spirit lifter. Elephants, camels and a lot more await our arrival so don’t delay, sign up today. Please meet us in The Arc parking lot by 8:45 am as the driver will be leaving at 9:00 am sharp. Pick up can be arranged if needed. This is an all day event so please be sure to dress warm and to wear appropriate shoes or boots. Plan to bring a lunch and we will picnic at the fair grounds.
Science Center
Where: Ithaca, NY
When: Saturday, March 15, 2008
Time: 2:00pm-5:00pm
Cost: $8.00
This afternoon we are planning a visit to the Ithaca Science Center. This event offers a chance to see how things really work. Explore the water table to learn about tides and build a dam, do you think you can hold back the water? See how video cameras work and play a tune on the musical stairs. There is something for everyone.
